Third Sector Review Author Talk: Reform of NZ Charity Regulation

This talk will focus on charities law reform in New Zealand, including the elusive review of the Charities Act 2005 which has recently restarted, albeit in a significantly attenuated form: the review is now focussed on 5 issues only, with the government wanting legislation passed within this Parliamentary term.

Sue Barker is the director of Sue Barker Charities Law, a boutique law firm specialising in charities law and public tax law.

Sue is currently on sabbatical as the New Zealand Law Foundation 2019 International Research Fellow Te Karahipi Rangahau ā Taiao, undertaking research into the question “What does a world-leading framework of charities law look like?”, with a report due by November 2021.
